This one's for you Betsy!!

My friend Betsy just did a post of her 3 yr old son's artist abilities on their cupboards.  I figured I should share my son's artistic abilities on his own body.  I knew he was being sneaky about something.  I asked him what he had in his hand and he said nothing.  About a minute later I noticed him doing something under the table.  Lo and behold, he DID have something in his hand and WAS doing something he knew was not acceptable.  Yes, he is crying because I spanked his bottom and he's sitting in time out.  No more markers for a week.  Sorry little guy!

Thanks- it's nice knowing my son is not the only one that does sneaking things! We had the same reaction after a spanking and time-out. Lots of crying (and fake crying at that). Oh the memories we will have!

Oh dear!, my heart went out to your little lad, sitting in the 'time out' chair, with his hands and feet newly painted.
Did you ever wonder if he was proud of his 'artistic' work?
I know he has to learn what is, and what is not acceptable to you, but he does look so sad.
Maybe you could cheer him up with a new book of 10 stories for the younger children. It features a car, a merry-go-round, some animals and lots of happy children. I am the author.

ummm...does anyone else think this is a bit strange?? i have no clue who this woman is. i think i handled this situation in the right way. of course he was sad and probably a bit embarrassed and disappointed with himself, but actions have consequences. he first lied, then continued to draw on himself, which he also knows is unacceptable. i'm surely not going to reward him with a new book because he did such a nice job coloring on himself...geesh!!

Um, yeah I thought that was pretty strange. I wonder if it would still be considered "artistic" work if it was done on a wall or the side of a car?
